Anti Fouling (also known as MGPS or ICAF) – Reliable Protection for Your Cooling Systems
Biofouling in seawater pipe systems can be a costly and time-consuming issue and may lead to reduced efficiency and system failures. When barnacles, mussels, and other marine organisms infiltrate pipes, heat exchangers, etc., they settle and multiply, creating blockages that disrupt cooling water flow.
BAC Impalloy’s Anti Fouling System (MGPS/ICAF) provides a proven and effective solution using copper (Cu) and aluminium (Al) or iron (Fe) anodes. These anodes, powered by a DC current from a control panel, are strategically placed within the sea chest and box coolers to interact directly with the water flow.
Copper Ions: The Cu ions produced are carried through the pipe systems and connected equipment. Even at very low concentrations (approx. 2 parts per billion), these ions prevent marine life from settling and multiplying.- Aluminium Ions: The Al ions disperse throughout the system, forming an anti-corrosive layer on the internal surfaces of the pipes, including the sea chest.
- or Iron Ions: The Fe ions function similarly to the Al ions, but in some cases, iron is preferred over aluminium.
The BAC Impalloy Anti Fouling System provides complete and continuous protection for your pipework and essential systems, including firefighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, and other cooling systems.
